i think i want cable...

...because sometimes i just want to do nothing but fill my brain with entertainment. i want to think that "chicken of the sea" really means that there are chickens in the sea, that buffalo's truly have wings, and that i can be a new, improved person in less than a week.
maybe I'll get tivo, too.
Well, guess i should start with a tv that works...oh well, back to the drawing board...

on another note, i'm now officially published. yay? i guess...
"I am contacting you in connection with your recent authorship for “? :) ?”. The editor and I really appreciate your contribution to the journal."

i am pretty amused by people. people are amusing.

why is this mailbox so important!!?

Dear New MBA Students:

I noticed that some of you have not yet
checked your mailbox. It is
located in a small room in the
South Wing (ANDHL 106).

Follow the arrows: Your mailbox
is directly below your name...

Thanks!

did I really need another mailbox?

as if there are not already enough items to keep up with, now there's 1 more mailbox for me in the MBA office....
On a related note, my wallet is slowly becoming a forum where all my memberships, etc meet (aka loiter). Pretty soon, as they notice space is scarce, they will begin to re-build their community on the notions of "Survivor". I will then begin to lose my life as memberships, et al, are voted from the premises. They will deviously plot to maintain their existence in this treasured space they've grown to love. Maybe they'll make t-shirts and wear do-rags, and maybe they'll get married once this first season is over.
Do I really need all these cards? why, surprisingly, yes.
It's great to know that should I wreck my car, i can easily fish out 5 or so cards that can handle the situation appropriately. I am (flash ID), I work at (flash 2 IDs), I am insured by (flash 1 card w/ auto insurance info, flash 1 membership card, drop card, crawl to the car's glove compartent, flash back-up auto insurance info, car rolls over cliff, flash trusty keychain-it's all there)...
Oh, and happy birthday, bro.

I cannot dry these eyes,
nor those, that spill
despite the evil,
desensitized during the nite.
I wake cold and sick,
receiving pain from touches.
But I'll never know a love such as,
or as much as
this.
And all the hope he gives.

LOS ANGELES, CA 90067

Dear Cal American,

The purpose of this letter is to register a formal complaint in regards to your Peppertree Place Apartments in Riverside, CA. I will also be submitting a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I have never experienced such a negative experience with a service provider until now. The office is very insufficient and disorganized, and, despite my many attempts for resolution, I have yet to hear back from any of the leasing agents working there. I am writing to make your company aware of this ordeal because these individuals have created a tremendous burden for me, especially since I am a full-time student working two jobs. So that you may become familiar with the situation, I will begin with the events occurring in December 2003.
On the night of December 19, 2003, my apartment was broken into and my car was stolen. I also had my license plates stolen only a few days prior. All of these aforementioned events took place at my assigned parking place within the apartment complex, and I also have police reports for the incidents. On December 20th, when I realized what had happened I filed a police report and then I called the leasing office. I was told that none of the managers were in and that I should call back the next morning. I was also told that my locks would not be able to be changed for several days. I am a single woman living alone and I did not feel that this was an adequate solution, since the security of my residence had been compromised. This is due to the fact that all of my keys were stolen as well. Therefore, I did not have access to the complex, my apartment, or my mailbox, but someone else did. I then called a friend who immediately came over. We decided that I would move in with his family for a few days until my locks could be changed. I do not own many items, so we were able to take everything of importance to me in just one trip. I knew that once I locked my door, I would not be able to return until either one of the agents let me in or after the locks had been changed. I left the residence on December 20, 2003 and have not been able to return.
At this point, I was merely disturbed by the violations I had experienced and I was dealing with the insurance matters regarding my stolen car. I was completely taken by surprise with the attitude I encountered upon calling the leasing office and explaining my situation. Just as I was instructed to do, I began calling on the morning of December 21st until I was able to reach a leasing agent. I explained exactly what had happened and I made them aware that someone else possessed keys to the apartment. I also let them know that I would need someone to let me back in for some more of my belongings. Once they discovered that I had moved the majority of my personal items out of the apartment, I was told that I was in violation for not letting them know prior. This made no sense to me, as I had paid my December rent on time (as I always did) and I should have been allowed back in. It was not my intention for them to think that I had moved out, as I explained I only moved items of value because the security of the apartment had been compromised. I became frustrated because I did not understand why it even mattered if I removed some of my belongings. I then told the leasing agent that I wanted to give my thirty days notice and just move out. I was then told that I would not be receiving my deposit back since I had "moved out". She kept insisting that I tell her that I was "out" of the residence. I finally said I was and then I asked if they would at least grant me access to my mailbox so that I could retrieve the last of my mail. I was told that I would have to take that up with the post office. I finally asked what else I needed to do to resolve this matter, because at this point I was willing to forfeit the rest of my belongings to avoid any extravagant ordeals. Especially at this time when I was already dealing with the other events. I was told, "Nothing, you're done". I questioned this, as I was in disbelief about what had just taken place. Again, I was told, "you don't need to do anything else. You're done." I again let them know that I did not have keys to the apartment and someone else did. To this, they let me know that the locks would be changed immediately. I said "fine" and just hung up. I was so surprised by what had just happened because I had never been a problem resident and had always paid my rent on time or early for the past two and a half years that I lived there. They even accused me of still having keys in my possession since I was able to move out. I once again explained that I am a college student working two jobs and that I did not own many items. One trip was enough to remove everything of value.
By January 3rd, I was able to move into my new residence. My new apartment complex said that they had to call Peppertree several times to have questions answered, and yet they still were not sure of what they were being told. They let me know that the office seemed very disorganized. At first, Peppertree did not recognize me as being a former tenant and then the agents could not explain the situation that lead to me moving out. It is also relevant to note that I moved to a small 48-unit complex and the owners would not have taken a chance on me if they thought that I would prove to be a problem resident. The new complex even suggested taking legal action against Peppertree because they were essentially "stealing" the last ten days of my December rent from me. I opted against this though, as I was too preoccupied dealing with my stolen car among other things and I thought that the Peppertree issue was behind me.
In January, I received a water & trash bill for my previous Peppertree apartment. Upon receiving this, I called the company, USI West, and was told that the property never contacted them to let them know that I had moved out. They told me that I would continue to receive the invoices until Peppertree contacted them. After this, I called Peppertree to inquire about this issue. When I called, they tried to tell me that I never moved out and that I was late on my rent! I said that there had to be a mistake and asked if they did not remember speaking with me in December about my situation. I was told that they remembered and that I was violating my lease. I was completely confused at this point, as I thought I was "done" according to the conversation a month earlier. I was told that I needed to submit a written thirty days notice, even though they had verbally accepted the one I had given on the phone in December. This was on January 29th, and just to expedite a resolution to this situation I submitted a notice that same afternoon. I requested that they let me know what else needed to be done, but I never heard back from them. On Tuesday, February 10th, I called to find out why I had not heard from anyone and I asked again what I should do. I was told that I owed a balance and that someone would call me back that same afternoon to let me know how much it was. I have still not received anything further from the leasing office.
In hindsight, I should have had the police accompany me to the premises back in December. However, I honestly thought that the ordeal was over and I would just lose a few of my belongings. It was never my intention for this to evolve as so. I honestly believed they were telling the truth when they told me that I "was done". I am a very honest and hard-working individual. It is completely inaccurate to believe that any of these events are within my character. I had nothing to gain from this situation; I was even expecting to lose the rest of my personal belongings. If I had known that the situation was progressively worsening, I would have taken care of it. Again, my only mistake has been in trusting these individuals.
It is not my intention to get anyone into trouble over this issue, but I think it is important for you to be aware of the level at which this establishment is operating. The individuals have been very unprofessional in each interaction with me, even resorting to calling me a liar during telephone conversations. I understand that they are trying to keep their employment, but it does no good to take out their frustrations on me. I am willing to accept that this was possibly the result of a misunderstanding, as I would never let this happen if I had known. I am also concerned because I do not know how to resolve this issue, as I am receiving no response from the office. The office has also told me that legal action has been pursued. I feel that these steps are unnecessarily harsh, as they honestly knew that I had moved out. Furthermore, they severely took advantage of the situation.
I would like to thank you for this opportunity to express my concerns and I hope that my feedback will assist you in acquiring and better training employees. This office is a direct representation of your company and it is not presenting a positive image. Customer service and service recovery are two topics that deserve more attention. I understand that agents in this industry are forced to deal with many personalities, but despite this fact they should still possess the ability to approach each consumer as a unique individual. I have been truly inconvenienced and wish to achieve an efficient resolution as soon as possible. Please feel free to contact me for further information or to offer advice for reaching a conclusion.

Sincerely,

self-induced ADD

so today seems nice. too bad i have so much to read and i have to go to the grocery store...
next weekend, i am definitely talking myself into doing homework in the library. i have no means of entertainment in this place, yet i still can't focus. so much that can be done and it all is more interesting than what has to be done...

capes

The caped ones run rampant
through the nite,
through my mind.
searching for truths,
aborted long before I awake in the morning.
I sit calmly
and assist this incredible devil
who's
killing me inside out.
I breathe for him and he lets me sleep,
Gives me sleep.
I ask no questions/he gives no answers:
it's a beautiful friendship
(sinking quietly).
But,
in the end,
we'll all have our desires.
We both shall be divine.

naive

A lover's touch
turned cold
I shall not scold
him
but rather myself
for believing
in promises
and dreaming
of things
I may never know
(or may never know again)

sleeping with the enemy...

...well, maybe not the enemy but more like an ex. but moreso in the sense of fiction, as all the chaos transpired in your mind alone.
your dream leaves you wondering in hopes that reality dismisses, as people do change. further, who's to say a bond of trust (nevermind lust) would still exist in a meeting per chance.
so, then, i wonder why could i not return to sleep...

a political post? well sorta...

...but not really.
it's only political because of the individuals involved.
I recently skimmed 2 side-by-side letters in a glamour or cosmo (yeah, i know, like the epitome of all worldy knowledge lies within either of them, sandwiched between this fall's new looks on the runway and who's loving who...). One letter was written by Bush to his daughters, the other by Kerry addressed to his daughters. Before I even began reviewing the letters, I noticed the Senator did not sign the letter to his own daughters as "love, dad" (as Bush did). He merely wrote, "-dad".
I'm not sure why I find this quite so disturbing. I'm not even considering political, but moreso the human, implications of such an overlooked detail. Maybe because my own biological father even signs his once-every-five-years birthday cards with "love", and he's had less than zero interest in my brother and i since birth. i try to be careful with the word "love" as well, but if i had children to write to, I would always say i loved them...
By the way, both letters were really a plug for how great each candidate could make America (the beautiful).

saturday

writes in her free time
right up til bedtime
thoughts don't flow so easy
while all the nite
she wakes with fright
deems herself uneasy.
through the nite,
the morning comes
no shelter from this harm
it's her last day
to live this way
and no one shows alarm

poem

the most beautiful one
crawls
through my mind
too ashamed to cry
too proud to die
I follow them
following me
this one desparate
this one can see
this one is no longer me

3 or 4 or whatever

apparently, i missed the worldwide meeting that voted to make -table ending words 3 syllables. vegetable, comfortable....
now, i sound like the stupid one trying to annunciate each syllable.

cereal

milk & honey body wash. it's an interesting scent.
but for 99 cents, yeah, I'll be your Cheerio...

seed

I'm out of place
as if this place
in which I bloom
fortells my doom.
I feel consumed
by feelings I've strewn
to the sides,
out of your sight.
And my sight lessens
as I take heed
to ignore these blessings
disguised as a love
I've never known.

mysterious ways

why does everyone have to be a mystery? simple questions are due a simple answer, so why all the drama? this is increasingly becoming a theme for my days.
also, i severely dislike (i try not to ever say "hate") parking and it seems destiny's child is back together. i hope jay-z is okay with this...

resurrect

millions of years come tumbling down
as this building
I built down below
touches ground
for each memory that dies
there's one in the crowd
I cry by my work
where I once sat proud
These ashes to dirt
look to me with no shame
thoughts forget nor remember
nor attempt to disclaim
but these once grand thoughts
now stand alone
for, no more are there minds
for them to call home

mood swing

I'm in the mood for love
a gentle shove
and I'm up above
watching him watch me
eyes closed
intently
I'm in the mood for love
a gentle shove
no longer above
gently shoves
I breathe unsteadily
uneasy by far
He falls further
I'm watching him
watch me
eyes closed
intently
worlds disappear
I no longer fear
And I am in the mood for love

ever notice the way you walk?

mine's a little odd. i think i swing my arms too much and lean to the left.

guess it's nothing a few wrist weights and a V-8 can't fix, though.

angels

I've seen no angels
able to take away my pain,
my lonliness
nor strong enough
to crush my thoughts,
my strength
until you
destroying my will
re-establishing
this lack of faith
which serves me faithfully

who cares if Britney faked her wedding?

I've pretty much decided the world doesn't need to know what I've eaten for lunch.

On another note, Justin & Cameron have allegedly broken up, so Justin & I should allegedly be dating next week...

perfection

his robes are stained
with blood from my eyes
and i see them burning
Ignorantly,
she is turning towards
perfection

rose

suppose this rose
no longer knows
what goes to die
and shows
as it grows
an equal evil eye

thursday already

school starts today. attended MBA orientation session yesterday. learned nothing more than i am pretty much the only one who cannot claim ESL.

off to read for now, but i'll probably post a "poem" or 2 later.

stoned

and we sang
as those without sin
cast the stones
upon my shadow's best friend.
I dance wearily
trapped by this stake
who holds my arms to the ground
he whom i forsake
by this one candle
my soul did depart
and embark on a journey
to replenish this heart.
I strive to affect him
(a great rise of my fears)
we refuse to choose
(a great rise of my tears)
in this last corner
I finish alone
as I stare wearily
at he
who cast the first stone.

the very next day

so it's tuesday now and I am in the mood to write. a gift i lost years ago.
busy day, as usual. University grant work til noon, product line seminar from noon-4.

seems a lot at first but you would adjust as i have.

first legend

ok. so what's a blog. nevermind that. I think I'll start one. i pretend this life is a show anyway, so it should be fun. non-making-sense title...clumsy writing...it'll be great.

Funny, so much seemed worth writing about earlier, but now i just want to know what all kinds of people are thinking. being the curious type i am.
